During the tour, you will descend into the Bochnia Salt Mine, exploring a vast underground network of tunnels, chambers, and galleries carved entirely from rock salt, including preserved mining equipment, an underground boat crossing, and a historic mine train dating back centuries.

You will see the iconic underground chambers filled with original wooden shafts, walkways, and mining mechanisms, alongside dramatic salt formations shaped by generations of miners. You’ll also ride the historic mining train through the tunnels and cross an underground lake by boat, gliding through near-silent chambers with dim reflections on the water. Multimedia exhibitions throughout the route tell the story of the miners and the history of the mine.

The tour provides an opportunity to learn about the history of salt mining in Bochnia, the daily life and working conditions of the miners, the engineering methods used to extract salt since the 13th century, and the legends associated with the mine, with a licensed guide providing historical and cultural context throughout the visit.
